On September 24, 2018, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting involving an Edmonton Police Service officer. ASIRT’s investigation is now complete.

On November 16, 2019, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate the hospitalization of an individual after interacting with Blood Tribe Police Service officers. ASIRT’s investigation is now complete.

ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
