“Doug Schweitzer has moved from Justice and Solicitor General to serve as Minister of Jobs, Economy and Innovation. Minister Schweitzer made important progress tackling rural crime, advancing aspects of the fair deal agenda, and creating a faster, fairer, more responsive justice system. He will bring the same energy and drive into the newly named portfolio of Jobs, Economy and Innovation as he oversees the implementation of Alberta’s Recovery Plan, its sector strategies and our growth agenda.
“Kaycee Madu has moved from Municipal Affairs to serve as the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General. With his legal training and policy experience, he will bring tremendous expertise implementing key democratic reforms including citizen’s initiative and recall legislation, a review of Alberta’s Police Act and the execution of the fair deal panel recommendations endorsed by government.
“I also welcome Tracy Allard, MLA for Grande Prairie, to the cabinet team as the new Minister of Municipal Affairs. She will create strong and successful municipal partnerships influenced by a lifetime of real world business experience as a local entrepreneur. She will challenge governments to focus on small business priorities and economic growth.
“As well, I want to thank Howard Anglin, my principal secretary, who has accepted a post-graduate fellowship at Oxford University. Howard will be deeply missed for his thoughtful leadership, and his service to Albertans is greatly appreciated.
Taking Howard’s place will be Lawrence Kaumeyer, a proud Edmontonian who worked for Ralph Klein’s government. He has over 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles across the country, including Buffalo Inspection Services, Infracon Energy Services Corporation, Aecon Group Inc, Almita Piling Inc. and ATB Financial. I’m pleased that Lawrence has agreed to join my team.”
