“Seniors are the foundation of our province. They helped build the Alberta we know and love today, and have shaped the communities we call home through their wisdom, experience, and leadership. Seniors continue to give back through volunteer service, caregiving, mentorship and community leadership.
“Alberta’s senior population is growing rapidly, with 890,000 seniors today calling our province home, and more than one million expected by 2034. We remain committed to supporting Alberta’s seniors with practical supports that help them to age with dignity, independence and connection in the communities they call home.
“To every older Albertan: thank you for everything you have done and continue to do to strengthen our province. The example you have set continues to inspire younger generations, and reminds us all that strong, healthy communities are built through service, connection and care.
“On behalf of Alberta’s government, I am proud to recognize the Day of Older Persons in Alberta and celebrate the seniors who make our province stronger every day.”
