The Community Pathways to Justice grant funding supports programs that help survivors of gender-based violence navigate the justice system and access the services they need. This funding will strengthen community-based services that help survivors access justice, navigate the legal system and get the support they need while promoting accountability for those who cause harm.
This investment aligns with Alberta’s 10-year strategy to end gender-based violence, which aims to prevent violence, address root causes and support survivors in their communities. Funding will be awarded to eligible Alberta-based organizations, including registered not-for-profits, municipalities, charities and Indigenous communities, and must be used for operational activities. The application process opens today and closes on June 23.
“It is critical that survivors receive the support they need to navigate the justice system and ultimately heal. Alberta’s approach expands the range of supports available, so survivors can get access to the help they need.”
The grant supports community-based organizations through two funding streams: one for existing recipients and one for new applicants. Returning organizations can apply for grants ranging from $75,000 to $200,000. New applicants can apply for grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000. The grant focuses on victim support, education and awareness, legal navigation and system coordination.
“Alberta’s 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence is creating lasting change by preventing harm, supporting survivors and strengthening the community organizations people rely on every day. This investment helps expand survivor-centred services and improve access to justice, so more Albertans can find the support they need, when and where they need it most.”
“When survivors are supported, communities are stronger. Through our National Action Plan to End Gender-based Violence, our federal government is proud to partner with Alberta to help ensure survivors can access the services, advocacy and justice they deserve. Meaningful change takes collaboration, and by working together with the provincial government, Indigenous communities and frontline organizations, we can build a more responsive system for survivors across Alberta.”
Alberta’s 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence builds on our province’s strengths – across government and with community partners – to achieve our vision of a province where every Albertan lives in safety, free from gender-based violence.
