New School in Sherwood Park
Completed more than a month ahead of schedule, the new facility reflects Alberta’s continued focus on delivering schools in the growing communities that need them most, ensuring families have access to high-quality learning environments close to home.
The $53-million Forest Grove School will provide space for more than 1,000 students and marks an exciting milestone for families in Sherwood Park.
The project highlights the importance of strong partnerships between Alberta’s government, local school authorities and construction experts. The three-storey facility incorporates leading-edge design features, including five learning communities, built around open-concept common areas that provide bright, collaborative environments for students in a modern school design.
“Investments in school infrastructure strengthen Alberta’s communities. This replacement school reflects our commitment to building world-class learning environments that support both academic success and student well-being.”
“This new Sherwood Park school is part of our generational $8.6-billion investment to build and modernize more than 100 schools across Alberta, ensuring growing communities have the modern, high-quality learning spaces families expect.”
Over the coming months, Elk Island Public Schools will complete the final work that will bring the building to life, including preparing classrooms, shared spaces and specialized learning areas. It is the final step in the journey from construction site to learning environment and will ensure the school is fully ready to welcome students, staff and families.
“Forest Grove School will become an important part of the Sherwood Park community, providing students with leading-edge learning spaces for generations to come. Having the school available a month ahead of schedule gives EIPS additional time to ensure it is properly equipped and ready for August 31.”
The new Forest Grove School will open to students in the fall of 2026.
