Housing linked with supports is an integral part of the overall response to homelessness. Through the Affordable Housing Partnership Program, Alberta’s government has invested $1.2 million in bilateral funding that is helping families who are experiencing or who are at risk of homelessness access permanent supportive housing. This funding was cost-matched by the federal government under the National Housing Strategy bilateral agreement.

“These units contribute to the affordable housing supply in our province while offering the supports Albertans need to get back on their feet. We will continue to work with our partners to ensure Albertans have access to more safe and stable affordable housing.”

Jason Nixon, Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services

“Announcements like today showcase our commitment to working with all levels of government and partners in the housing sector. This investment will not only provide safe and affordable homes for families in need, but will also help strengthen the city of Calgary by creating an inclusive community for these residents to grow and thrive in. This is a big step forward towards our goal of delivering meaningful results and increased affordability through our government’s National Housing Strategy.”

Sean Fraser, federal Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities

HUB 29 opened in fall 2023 and provides seven two-bedroom and 17 three-bedroom units with a minimum of 20 per cent being wheelchair accessible. The facility also includes a community hub space, preschool, daycare, and a community café and kitchen.

“The Mustard Seed opening HUB 29 will ensure families in and around Calgary-Peigan have access to vital supports when it comes to affordable housing. I want to extend a huge thank you to Minister Nixon and partners at the Mustard Seed for their continued work to ensure all Albertans have a warm place to stay.”

Tanya Fir, MLA for Calgary-Peigan

"Ogden Hub:29 is more than just 24 units of housing. It will be home to 24 vulnerable families who will have the opportunity to grow and thrive in a caring and supportive environment – a vision of a community that is safe, affordable and allows families to live and flourish. Thanks to numerous partnerships, Hub 29 is no longer just a vision but a reality."
