Garth Rowswell, MLA for Vermilion-Lloydminster-Wainwright, and Chantelle de Jonge, MLA for Chestermere-Strathmore, will meet with government, legislative and private sector leaders from the northwestern United States to discuss issues of importance to Alberta as part of the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) capital tours.

The tours kick off in Olympia, Wash., on Jan. 17 and will focus on responsible energy solutions, emissions management, ensuring strong economic corridors, protecting waterways from invasive species, and advancing technology and innovation across all sectors.

“The United States is Alberta’s largest trading partner. PNWER is an excellent opportunity to build on those relationships with state legislators and develop new opportunities for economic trade and development. I look forward to the meetings and discussions ahead and to finding new growth opportunities for our province.”

The second set of meetings will take place in Juneau, Alaska, where MLA de Jonge will continue conversations around energy security, economic growth and environmental concerns. Alberta continues to play a strong role in all three of these areas and ongoing meetings will enable further advocacy and education around the role that Alberta does and can play.

“This conference will be an excellent opportunity for elected officials from the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region to come together, strengthen ties and find new avenues for economic growth and diversification. I look forward to attending and getting results for Alberta.”
