Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Bridge and Road Closure with Hazardous Materials Release Alert

The bridge on Range Road 81, north of Township Road 574 has collapsed, resulting in a hazardous materials release into the Little Paddle River. Range Road 81 is closed from north of Township Road 574 to Township Road 580 until further notice.

A bridge collapse has occurred and agricultural machinery has entered in the Little Paddle River, leaking fuels into the waterway. County Fire Services is on scene for emergency mitigation and Alberta Environment has been notified for spill clean-up. Heavy equipment has been arranged to remove the machinery. Power may be interrupted to allow for removal of machinery to occur due to power lines in the immediate area. Waters in the Little Paddle River downstream from the bridge are impacted.

Action to take:

  • Range Road 81 is closed to all but local traffic, from Township Road 574 north to Township Road 580
  • Landowners downstream from the bridge at Range Road 80 must not to utilize river waters for livestock or other use until clean-up has been completed
  • Further updates will be provided through the County website at www.LSAC.ca as they become available.
