Melting snow continues to cause overland flooding resulting in road closures in the Town of Sexsmith. Crews are on site and the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership has activated its emergency coordination centre to assist with and monitor the situation. Please use alternate routes if you encounter areas of flooding.

Crews are currently putting water pumps in place to help remove water from flooded areas. Sandbags will be available for residents at the Sexsmith Public Works building at 10530-95 Ave.

Action to take:

• Residents are advised to keep children away from flooding water within the town
• Please obey all road closure signs and follow the directions of local authorities
• Avoid creeks and low lying areas
• Watch for further updates and follow the instructions of local officials.
