Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Wildfire Alert In Cypress County Update

A serious grass and wildfire continues to affect the areas between Township Road 180 and Township Road 190, on both the east and west sides of Highway #41 north, which is north of the hamlet of Hilda. The fire has now moved into Saskatchewan. Extremely high wind velocities are still present.

Cypress County Emergency Services are presently on scene fighting the fire. The RCMP continue to shut down both north and south bound traffic along Highway 41 north in the Hilda area due to visibility, and for public safety reasons. The length of any traffic delays are unknown at this time.

Action to take:

  • Visibility may be affected due to the smoke, dust, and nightfall
  • Please avoid the area
  • Follow the directions of local authorities
  • Anyone affected by the fire or in need of shelter as a result may go to the Hilda Community Hall in the hamlet Hilda
  • More information and updates will follow.
