Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Natural Gas Supply Updated

There has been an event that has disrupted natural gas supply to approx. 300 homes south of Highway 670 and Range Road 52 in the County of Grande Prairie. ATCO gas is on scene and working on the problem. The following residential subdivisions have been identified as affected: Brookside, Meadow Brook, Aspen Ridge, Sunnybrook, Eastland Acres, Triple L Trailer Park, Autumn Wood, Arthur Lane and Sunridge Estates. Schools have been notified.

GPREP has opened a warming center in Evergreen Park for residents impacted by the outage. Pets are welcome. GPREP advises residents accessing the warming center to bring basic necessities in the event they have to stay out of their homes for an extended period. Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the County of Grande Prairie.

Action to take:

  • In the affected areas do not use gas appliances
  • Shut off gas appliances if safe to do so
  • ATCO Gas will be going door to door to affected residents to assist with the re-lighting of gas appliances
  • Residents that do not want to wait in their homes due to the cold are asked to provide a call ahead to ATCO to confirm access arrangements at 780-310-5678 before 7:00 pm, and after 7:00 pm to ATCO Emergency Dispatch at 1-800-511-3447.
