“The Statistics Canada 2025 GDP numbers confirm what Albertans across our province already know: Alberta is Canada’s economic powerhouse.

“Our economy grew by 3.3 per cent last year, blowing the national rate of 1.9 per cent out of the water. Alberta had the largest growth of any province in the prairies and we came in well above Canada’s other three largest provinces: B.C., Ontario and Quebec.

“2025 also saw Alberta achieve the highest GDP per capita in Canada, generating about 20 per cent more per person than the national average.

“Under Premier Danielle Smith, Alberta’s GDP has outpaced the national average for four consecutive years – and that’s not an accident. It’s because Alberta’s government has made deliberate choices that back Albertans, back businesses and back real growth across the province. In 2025, we helped drive Alberta’s economy forward again by supporting solid trade, record-breaking housing construction, and strategic infrastructure investments.

“Alberta’s GDP is expected to outperform the nation again in 2026, and we are committed to supporting this momentum by keeping taxes competitive, advancing major projects and maintaining the conditions businesses need to invest, grow and keep our province prosperous.”
