From Oct. 7-10, more than 40,000 fans will fill the seats at Rogers Place to watch rodeo’s best compete for national titles and championship buckles. The CFR continues to be a proud Alberta tradition, with more than five decades of showcasing the unique western heritage that makes the province a world-class rodeo destination.

Last year’s CFR generated more than $32.4 million in economic activity and attracted more than 43,000 spectators. This year’s event, welcoming guests from across Canada and beyond, is expected to once again deliver significant benefits for Edmonton’s visitor economy, hosting 120 athletes, filling over 18,000 hotel rooms and supporting more than 6,000 jobs.

“The Canadian Finals Rodeo is a major sport event that strengthens Alberta’s economy and tourism sector by attracting visitors, supporting local businesses and showcasing our province on a national stage. Alberta is, and will always be, rodeo country.”

Andrew Boitchenko, Minister of Tourism and Sport

Alberta’s government invested $1.5 million in CFR 52. This is part of a three-year, $4.5-million commitment to support hosting the event in Edmonton from 2024 to 2026. The investment helps ensure the continued success of one of Canada’s most anticipated rodeo championships, creating jobs and encouraging visitor spending and stays across the capital region.

“Alberta is the heart of western culture, so it’s great to have the Canadian Finals Rodeo back in our province. CFR brings together some of the best rodeo athletes in Canada, but it’s also about bringing our communities together to celebrate our western heritage and cheer them on. I hope Albertans get out to enjoy the rodeo and experience what makes our province such a special place.”

Tara Sawyer, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation

The CFR is Canada’s national rodeo championship and features eight events across rough stock and timed disciplines. Fans can experience some of rodeo’s most popular events, including bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback riding, steer wrestling and barrel racing, as competitors battle for national titles and championship prizes.

“The sport of rodeo is woven into the fabric of Alberta, built on a proud agricultural heritage and the values of hard work, determination and community. The Canadian Finals Rodeo brings those values to life, showcasing the very best of our sport while generating meaningful economic and community impact that reaches well beyond the arena.”

Denny Phipps, chief executive officer, Canadian Professional Rodeo Association

By continuing to invest in major events like the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Alberta is reinforcing its reputation as a top destination for national and international sporting events.
