“Saturday, September 26 is Provincial Hunting Day. This day gives Albertans the opportunity to recognize the important role hunters play in wildlife conservation and responsible stewardship of Alberta's natural landscapes.
“Alberta is home to some of the most abundant and diverse wildlife populations in North America. Maintaining healthy wildlife populations requires ongoing conservation efforts, sound science and the tireless work of Albertans who care deeply about the future of our outdoors.
“Hunters are the front-line forces of this work. Through their commitment to ethical harvesting and wildlife management, they help ensure Alberta's wildlife remains healthy and sustainable for generations to come.
“This year marks an exciting step forward for conservation in Alberta with the launch of the Alberta conservation licence plate. Giving Albertans a visible and meaningful way to support conservation efforts and contribute to on-the-ground projects helps sustain wildlife populations and protect the habitats they rely on.
“Whether someone purchases a conservation licence plate, volunteers in local conservation efforts or participates in Provincial Hunting Day, they are helping strengthen Alberta's conservation legacy.
“Provincial Hunting Day also provides the younger generation with an opportunity to learn about safe and responsible hunting, develop outdoor skills and gain a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the role conservation plays in managing our natural resources. I encourage all Albertans to share their knowledge and passion with the youth in their lives and today is a great occasion to do so.
