The Northern Alberta Teacher Award encourages Bachelor of Education students to live and teach in northern Alberta after graduation. The program helps attract and retain qualified teachers in communities where they are needed most, which will support better learning opportunities for students and families across northern Alberta.

Award recipients are eligible to receive:

  • $9,000 after completing two years of full-time teaching, or
  • $18,000 after completing three years of full-time teaching

The return-to-service model incentivizes new teachers to spend at least two years in a northern Alberta school division. This funding helps ensure students in smaller and remote communities have access to high-quality education and supports stability in classrooms.

Award recipients will be selected while completing their final year of a Bachelor of Education program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
