Alberta is a national leader in aviation, with bold investments and strategic partnerships driving growth and innovation across the province’s aerospace sector. To support further growth in the aviation sector, Alberta’s government is providing more than $21 million to help develop Calgary Airport’s YYC AeroNex project.
This project will help develop the infrastructure needed to attract major investment at Calgary International Airport, creating jobs, expanding opportunities for skilled workers and strengthening Alberta’s aviation industry. In partnership with Alberta’s government, YYC AeroNex is attracting world-class support services and training to the sector through long-term strategies.
“Calgary Airports is a major driver of Alberta’s economy, supporting thousands of jobs for Albertans and contributing to the growth and diversification of our economic landscape. By investing more than $21 million today, we are supporting Calgary Airports in the important work they do and reinforcing our commitment to advancing the aviation and aerospace industry in our province.”
The development of YYC AeroNex will enhance training and educational opportunities in engineering, design, and technology. The new $120-million Lufthansa Technik engine maintenance facility is the first major investment to benefit from YYC AeroNex.
“This marks another major step forward in establishing Calgary and Alberta as leaders for aviation. The Government of Alberta’s support is instrumental in moving this vision ahead, enabling us to bring critical aviation capabilities to Canada and laying the groundwork for sector growth and future investment.”
Groundbreaking projects such as YYC AeroNex will help to ensure Canadian airlines have access to competitively priced, world-class support and training while growing Alberta’s economy.
