Alberta’s government will lead a strategic tourism mission to strengthen Alberta’s presence in Tokyo and Seoul. Minister Boitchenko and representatives from Travel Alberta will meet with travel, trade and media partners in key Asian markets to promote Alberta’s new air gateways and world-class visitor experiences.

The mission builds on the success of WestJet’s direct flights from Calgary to Incheon and Narita, made possible through Alberta’s Air Access Program and a memorandum of understanding between Alberta’s government and WestJet. These strategic initiatives aim to boost Alberta’s tourism market position and generate increased interest in the province’s unique tourism experiences. It reflects the province’s goal of becoming a top travel choice for South Korean and Japanese travellers, a target market that is key to Alberta reaching $25 billion in annual visitor spending.

“Alberta is ready to take centre stage in Asia’s travel market. By building strong ties in Tokyo and Seoul, we’re positioning the province as a top year-round destination. This mission turns global interest into real visits, inviting more visitors to discover the unique experiences Alberta has to offer.”

Andrew Boitchenko, Minister of Tourism and Sport

Minister Boitchenko will be joined by one staff member. Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page. Travel Alberta representatives’ expenses will be covered by the provincial agency.
