The ratification of Alberta’s groundbreaking membership places Alberta among leading nations like Austria, Finland and Spain – countries recognized for their commitment to responsible wildlife stewardship. It reflects Alberta’s growing role as a global leader in sustainable hunting practices and practical conservation strategies.

While in Doha, Qatar, the minister will attend the 71st General Assembly of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation and showcase Alberta as a world-class international hunting destination – boosting the province’s outfitting industry, supporting local jobs and connecting with global partners to exchange knowledge on wildlife management and conservation best practices.

“Alberta is world-famous for hunting, fishing and outdoor adventure. Joining this international group shows the strong conservation work happening here and opens new doors to share what we’re doing – and learn from others, too.”

Todd Loewen, Minister of Forestry and Parks

Following the conference, Minister Loewen will travel to the United Kingdom to meet with experts on human-wildlife conflicts and promote Alberta hunting opportunities in Europe.

Minister Loewen will be joined by one government employee. Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
