For more than ninety years, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity has served as a hub for artistic and creative development. To support its important work, Alberta’s government is appointing Paul Baay as the new chair of the board of governors of Banff Centre, along with five new public board members: Brinna Brinkerhoff, Lori Paine, Naomi Schmold, Pinder Sandhu and Myron Tétreault.
“Since 1933, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity has fostered a legacy of Alberta excellence in post-secondary education for creative and leadership endeavours. These new board appointments will see the centre fulfil its time-honoured mandate and continue inspiring artists, leaders and thinkers.”
With significant qualifications in non-profit and community organizations, arts leadership and the corporate sector, the new board members bring exemplary expertise and experience in finance, human resources, law, risk management and strategic planning to their positions. Board members will serve terms of three years.
“While working with Banff Centre, I have come to understand its unique and important contributions to Alberta and the world. It is an educational and arts institution with a long history of being responsive to the evolving needs of those it supports. Working with Banff Centre leadership, particularly president and CEO Chris Lorway, has been excellent. It is an honour to continue to support the governance of Banff Centre as its chair as its leadership looks ahead to the 100th anniversary.”
“It is my pleasure to welcome the new government appointees to the Banff Centre Board of Governors. I wish to extend my sincere, personal thanks to Mr. Paul Baay for his attentive work over the past several months as interim administrator. I look forward to continuing this fruitful collaboration. Over the past several months, the Banff Centre team has been welcoming artists, leaders, audiences and guests to our campus, preparing for an exciting summer season, planning for fall and winter educational programming, and looking ahead to a bright future. Today’s announcement will contribute to Banff Centre’s ongoing service to arts and education in Alberta and beyond.”
