“Today thousands of Albertans will celebrate Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours. This vibrant and joyous Hindu festival originated in India and is now celebrated across the world.
“Holi invites those who celebrate to practise acceptance and harmony. As they do this, they will mark the occasion with music, dancing and delicious sweets. It is a time to reconnect and to reconcile the problems of the past to fight away evil.
“During this colourful festival, people throw coloured powder and water at each other, symbolizing joy and renewal as winter gives way to spring. Everyone who takes part is drenched in an array of diverse colours, each with its own meaning.
“To every Albertan celebrating Holi, may its colours fill your life with happiness, joy and positivity. Holi Hai!”
