With support from Alberta’s government, the Town of Beaverlodge has partnered with Landrex Inc. to build a new state-of-the-art health complex to replace the current Beaverlodge hospital. The new infrastructure will meet current health facility standards and better support local delivery of more innovative and effective health services.

The services offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS) at the new Mountview Health Complex will be integrated into a comprehensive care campus, fostering increased collaboration and improved coordination of health care services. Services offered will include outpatient care, ambulance services, inpatient care for serious health issues, community health services and various clinical support services like imaging, labs, pharmacy and rehabilitation.

“We are taking action to improve our health system so Albertans can get the right care when and where they need it most. We need to put patients first and give health providers the right space to properly care for Albertans. I’d like to thank local officials for coming up with a unique approach to get this project underway.”

Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health

The Mountview Health Complex will be built on 20 acres of land donated to the town by the McFarlane family. Once the new health complex is complete, AHS will lease and operate space within the facility. With funding from Alberta’s government, Alberta Health Services will make annual lease payments to the Mountview Health Limited Partnership. Project design will begin shortly, with construction of the 9,000-square-metre facility expected to begin in spring 2024.

“The replacement of the Beaverlodge hospital is critical to our community and our region. We are very proud to be able to have led this innovative project, with our partner Landrex Inc., from conception to this announcement. The Mountview Health Complex will ensure that residents will continue to have access to a high level of care well into the future.”

Gary Rycroft, mayor, Town of Beaverlodge

The new health facility is expected to open in 2028 and the services offered will complement the health care available at the nearby Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

“The residents of Beaverlodge and northwest Alberta-West County area deserve the best possible care – care that’s offered in a modern, well-equipped health facility. Our region’s health providers need a facility that meets the latest standards and enables them to provide that quality care. This new facility will offer those amenities.”

Ron Wiebe, MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti

“We are proud to continue this journey forward in partnership with the Town of Beaverlodge and Alberta Health Services. This is critical infrastructure for the town and the greater community and we are excited to be able to support the town on this journey and be a part of an innovative and new way to provide health care.”
