“Small business owners and workers are community builders, neighbours, friends and family members.
“They embody the Alberta spirit with their innovation, hard work and determination. About 96 per cent of businesses in the province are small businesses, creating jobs, fuelling economic growth and making our province a better place to live and work.
“During Small Business Week, our government is pleased to highlight and celebrate the creativity and dedication of small business owners and workers across our province – and our commitment to supporting them.
“Initiatives like the web portal Biz Connect help small businesses access supports and connect with local resources, associations and organizations for coaching and mentoring. The Canada-Alberta Job Grant provides crucial funding for Alberta employers to train their workers, grow and diversify. Through partner organizations such as Business Link and Futurpreneur, businesses can access one-on-one advice and more.
“In addition, our ongoing suspension of the provincial fuel tax until the end of the year helps business owners keep their costs down.
“This week, as we celebrate Alberta's small businesses, I encourage everyone to remember the personal sacrifices, the late nights and the big dreams that drive them forward. We can all find ways to support Alberta small businesses and contribute to our province’s continued growth and prosperity.”
