“Today, Muslims around the world are marking the traditional birthdate of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH), celebrated in the third month of the Islamic calendar. Many of the more than 200,000 Muslims in Alberta are marking this important holiday through a diverse range of observance and traditions.

“For every Muslim observing this day, I trust that Mawlid al-Nabi, also referred to as Eid Milad un-Nabi, is a meaningful time to honour the foundational figure of the Islamic faith with people around the world. As you gather to pray, to hear sermons on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and listen to special recitations from the Qur’an, I hope you are strengthened in your faith.

“I wish everyone all the best for a blessed and joyous Mawlid al-Nabi!”
