Each Canadian province and territory will select one recipient for the Council of the Federation Award for Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions Care. This one-time award will provide recognition and support for non-profits, community, private sector, academic and Indigenous-led initiatives across Canada.

“Alberta is home to a long list of world-class organizations that are innovating and raising the standard of care for Albertans struggling with mental health and addiction challenges. On behalf of the Council of the Federation, I thank all Albertans for their work in this field and I look forward to recognizing Alberta’s award recipient.”

Jason Kenney, Premier

“This award is an opportunity to highlight the incredible work being done in communities across Alberta to ensure every Albertan has the opportunity to pursue recovery. Please help us recognize the hard work and dedication of Albertans by nominating those who are leading in this field.”

Mike Ellis, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions

Each recipient of the Council of the Federation Award for Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions Care will receive a certificate signed by the premier of their province or territory and a $5,000 prize to advance the awarded initiative and foster further innovation.

Albertans can visit the Government of Alberta website to view the full eligibility criteria and submit a nomination.

Alberta’s government is accepting nominations until May 13. An internal selection panel from Alberta Health will create a short list of nominees and Associate Minister Ellis, with Premier Kenney’s support, will select Alberta’s recipient of the prestigious award.
