“April 11 marks the start of National Medical Laboratory Week, a time to recognize the important role that medical laboratory professionals have in the health-care system.
“Medical laboratory professionals play a critical part in Albertans’ health journey. The lab tests that are performed and the analysis that is provided play a key role in diagnosis and treatment, as well as in disease monitoring and prevention.
“During this unprecedented public health emergency, medical laboratory professionals have been working tirelessly as an integral part of the COVID-19 response. To date, they have analyzed more than three million COVID-19 tests and play a crucial role in fighting this pandemic.
“Alberta’s government thanks all medical laboratory professionals in the province for their hard work and selfless commitment to ensure accurate results for Albertans each and every day.
“During this special week, I encourage Albertans to reach out and thank a medical laboratory professional for their untold contributions in building a strong health system.”
