A Request for Proposals will be posted, seeking an experienced vendor to conduct a system review and develop Alberta 2030: Transforming Post-Secondary Education.
“The MacKinnon Panel report recommended that Alberta’s post-secondary system develop a clear direction for the future. With the input of our broad spectrum of stakeholders, this strategy will help shape the future of post-secondary education in Alberta by examining critical issues and identifying opportunities for generations to come. We will co-create a post-secondary system that is affordable, accessible and reflective of our economy’s future demands.”
The review will include:
- Comparisons to selected global, national and sub-national post-secondary systems, trends and outcomes
- An assessment of the governance structure of Alberta’s current post-secondary system
- An assessment of how the system is meeting current and future needs, and may provide best value for public investment
- Development of a vision for the future, including a strategy and roadmap to 2030 that supports lifelong learning for all Albertans
“Alberta’s post-secondary presidents welcome the opportunity for a leadership role, in close collaboration with the Government of Alberta, to create a system-level, long-range, and vibrant strategic direction that brings together the collective efforts of our first-rate higher education institutions. Together, Alberta’s colleges, universities, and polytechnics represent unparalleled opportunity in support of a diverse, resilient, and prosperous Alberta through comprehensive and robust learning pathways and cutting-edge research and innovation.”
The Request for Proposals will be posted by mid-March. The final strategy will be presented to government at the end of 2020, with implementation beginning in 2021.
