Transgender Day of Remembrance

The transgender pride flag flies at the Federal Building plaza in Edmonton, and at McDougall Centre in Calgary to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance.

“Today, people around the world are gathering to remember those who have faced violence or lost their lives simply because they were transgender.

“It’s our responsibility to build a province where all people, no matter how they identify or who they love, can be safe.

“Today, we stand with our friends, family, loved ones and all who identify as transgender. We remember those lost and move forward together as we walk the path ahead.”
