“Linking Alberta’s researchers and innovators with Lockheed Martin and their outstanding technology legacy is a fantastic opportunity to move solutions for Alberta, and the world, into the market. We welcome Lockheed Martin’s participation in our evolving innovation system and our goals for a more innovative, prosperous and diverse economy with opportunities for all Albertans.”

Dave Hancock Premier and Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education

“While innovation cannot be managed, it can be supported. This agreement brings together the diverse resources, talent, and ideas of academia, industry, and government to support innovative solutions that could become the next generation of technological advancement.”

Dr. Ray O. Johnson, Lockheed Martin Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

“Innovation and partnership are critical to our collective success, and I’m proud of the record that Lockheed Martin Canada has demonstrated over the past 75 years.  We are Canadians working for Canadians and we will continue to look for opportunities to identify and promote the tremendous talents and capabilities that we find across campuses and industrial parks across the country.”

Charles Bouchard, Chief Executive, Lockheed Martin Canada

The agreement connects the resources of Lockheed Martin and Alberta’s innovation system, Campus Alberta institutions and local companies to identify and pursue solution-based research, technology development and commercialization. Lockheed Martin’s technology legacy includes aeronautics and space exploration, advanced materials, robotics and technologies directed at energy, water and health security.

A number of initial technology commercialization projects will be supported through the agreement including a significant advance in computing to increase speed and storage capacity, filtration membranes that could greatly enhance water management for oil sands, and high-capacity, high-performance batteries for consumer electronic and industrial applications.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
