This release was issued under a previous government.

“My congratulations go out to Judge Anderson on this appointment. His more than 30 years of experience in Alberta’s justice system make him a fitting choice for this position,” said Jonathan Denis, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General. “Our province also owes Assistant Chief Judge Wheatley a debt of gratitude for the excellent service he has provided Albertans.”

Judge Anderson graduated from the University of Alberta in 1981 and practiced criminal law for 25 years before being appointed as a Provincial Court Judge in 2006. Before his appointment, he was a founding partner of a now well-established criminal law firm, was active in many service-oriented organizations, was on the Board of Directors of the Legal Society of Alberta and was a president of the Law Society of Alberta. Since his appointment to the Bench, Judge Anderson has served in the Edmonton Criminal Division and has been active in judicial education in Alberta, nationally, and internationally.

Our government was elected to keep building Alberta, to live within its means and to fight to open new markets for Alberta’s resources. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
