“Alberta faces rapidly falling resource revenues in the face of a rapidly growing and aging population. As I’ve said in recent weeks, that will result in very difficult choices ahead - both in the upcoming budget and in the years that follow,” said Premier Redford. “This summit will be a very important opportunity to discuss the economic challenges facing the province while also offering potential solutions for Albertans.”

The summit will feature four moderated panels, each consisting of three to five participants with unique perspectives on areas relevant to Alberta’s fiscal framework. These panels will be on Alberta’s economy, balancing expectations on the services Albertans need, Alberta’s revenue mix and discussing responsible spending.

Additional information about the first annual Alberta Economic Summit, including how all Albertans can participate via social media, the names of the panel members, and accreditation for news media, will be released in the coming days.
