  • Description: Springwood Studios presents a 72-hour songwriting contest. Local musicians will be paired together to create a new original song. The original song will be judged by a panel of local artists and the top 5 will be selected to perform. The winner will receive $500 and a recording session with Springwood Studios.   • Description: This open event is a family friendly engaging evening celebrating the collaborative works of members of the Airdrie Writers Groups and local artists. Artists and writers will come to the library to present and do their readings. 15 artists and 15 writers submitted an initial piece of work and then were paired with another person to make a response piece. The Gala will be live streamed to the public to listen in.

  • Description: We plan on celebrating & sharing the cultural diversity in our local black community through music and art. Since we are unable to gather to engage in our traditional live ,art, music and poetry events as we have done in past years, we will be recording live performances in a designated venue. The performances will be edited and offered up on Social media Sept 18 and 25th with a small outdoor pop up performance at a designated restaurant that is in adherence with public health guidelines.

  • Description: Ghostbusters and treasure hunters come together to explore an abandoned asylum in a role-playing campaign inspired by Marty Chan's new novel, Haunted Hospital. The author will teach a workshop on how to create characters and develop an adventure for teens interested in role-playing games. After the workshop, participants will take their new characters for a spin in a virtual tabletop co-op adventure. Targeted at youth and teens in Grades 7-12.

  • Description: As Banff Centre begins a staged and gradual campus reopening, we look forward to welcoming you back to the gallery as of Sept 26, with the exhibition "darkness is as deep as the darkness is" by Rita McKeough. Art is increasingly vital and necessary as we cope with these unprecedented times. To ensure the safety of both our visitors and staff, we have implemented online booking and new safety measures based on guidelines from Alberta Health.   • Description: Starting September 1 through to September 26 LEGO enthusiasts of all ages are recreating, in LEGO, images and items as seen on " Barrhead Minutes" videos posted on YouTube. They will be guided online by intrepid LEGO artists Kris and Colin of Creative Industries. These mini-videos have been produced by arts and culture groups in our community. An in-person display of completed LEGO works is planned for Saturday Sept. 26 in the large and spacious DeHerdts Garden Centre in Barrhead.
