Alberta’s government will lead a strategic tourism mission to strengthen Alberta’s presence in Mexico City from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9. Minister Boitchenko and representatives from Travel Alberta will meet with airline, travel trade and media partners to promote Alberta as a premier year-round destination.
Mexico is a key international tourism market for Alberta, driving significant economic growth. In 2025, Mexican visitors spent about $51 million in Alberta, fueled by a 38 per cent increase in air passenger volume as visitor number climbed from 6,000 travellers in 2024 to 8,000. To support this growth, the mission will focus on strengthening relationships with key international partners, promoting direct air access, Alberta’s unique experiences and encouraging future investment in tourism development.
"Mexico is a valued partner and an important growth market for Alberta's tourism industry. Through this mission, we are building stronger relationships, showcasing Alberta's world-class tourism experiences, creating new opportunities to welcome more Mexican visitors to our province, and strengthening our economy while supporting and sharing Alberta's story with the world."
Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
