Tany Yao, MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Northern Development; Ron Wiebe, MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti and Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health (North); and Scott Cyr, MLA for Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul and Parliamentary Secretary for Transportation and Strategic Development, will meet with lawmakers, government leaders, industry representatives and other delegates from 13 U.S. states at the annual meeting of the Council of State Governments (CSG) West in Salt Lake City.

MLAs will engage with western U.S. elected officials and policy leaders through CSG West’s Westrends Board, Energy and Grid Committee and Executive Committee to advance shared regional priorities. Discussions will highlight Alberta’s growing defence and aerospace sector and the strategic role two-way trade, investment, border passage and critical trade infrastructure play in securing long-term energy and supply chain resilience on both sides of the border.

“I’m proud to represent Alberta at CSG West as we showcase our role as a secure, reliable energy and defence partner. Energy from our province helps power the U.S. economy, while also underpinning Alberta’s growing defence sector, opening the door for our U.S. partners to collaborate with us on a scale we haven’t seen before.”

Tany Yao, MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Northern Development

“We are committed to taking purposeful action to strengthen Alberta’s trade relationships and attract investment that supports good jobs and long-term growth. By working closely with U.S. partners, we’re building stronger relationships and economic ties that can deliver real results and benefits for both Americans and Canadians long into the future.”

Ron Wiebe, MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti and Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health (North)

“Strong, efficient trade corridors and critical trade infrastructure like cross-border pipelines are critical to keeping our economies moving and growing. I look forward to working with our U.S. partners to strengthen the infrastructure and the connections that keep goods flowing safely, reliably and efficiently across the West.”

Scott Cyr, MLA for Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul and Parliamentary Secretary for Transportation and Strategic Development
