From April 23 to May 2, Premier Danielle Smith will meet business leaders, government officials and investors in Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom to advance partnerships in defence, innovation and workforce development, and open new opportunities for Alberta businesses.

Alberta’s economy relies on strong global partnerships, supported by the Alberta office in London, serving Europe. As demand grows for advanced technology and responsible resource development, Premier Danielle Smith’s mission will help diversify markets, attract investment and create jobs in Alberta.

“Alberta has what the world needs, and we’re taking that message directly to our partners. This mission is about building strong, lasting relationships that create opportunities for our businesses, while learning from leading jurisdictions to strengthen our health system and economy at home. When Alberta shows up globally, we deliver real results for Albertans.”

Danielle Smith, Premier

While in Europe, the Premier will promote Alberta’s diverse economy and explore shared interests in key sectors, including energy, artificial intelligence, aerospace, defence and tourism. This includes showcasing strengths in oil and gas, carbon capture, and emerging technologies, alongside Alberta’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and investment.

Alberta’s government will meet with health system leaders, as well as education and vocational training leaders, providers and experts to gain insights into best practices, successes and challenges in service delivery across both sectors. These discussions will examine how leading jurisdictions manage rising demand, support their workforce and deliver timely, high-quality health care, as well as how they design and deliver effective education and vocational training programs that respond to labour market needs.

Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
