ASIRT was directed to investigate a police shooting near Ghost Lake during the attempted arrest of a person with outstanding warrants.
Calgary Police Service – Nov. 19, 2023 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate allegations of excessive force during an arrest at a public protest.
Edmonton Police Service – Feb. 6, 2021 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate the death of a person being held in custody.
ASIRT operates within the Police Review Commission, an independent, civilian-led agency that investigates criminal allegations and public complaints involving police services in Alberta. ASIRT independently and objectively investigates incidents that result in death, serious injury and potential criminal offences involving all Alberta police services, as well as serious matters involving peace officers.
