While in Wyoming, MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo Tany Yao will meet with lawmakers, government leaders, industry representatives and other delegates from 13 U.S. states at the 78th CSG West annual meeting.

This cross-border meeting will provide a platform to discuss areas of importance to the province, such as U.S.-Canada relations, energy, cross-border pipelines, trade and economic development.

“I look forward to attending CSG West to build relationships and find solutions vital to ensuring that our businesses and people have the opportunities they need to thrive. For decades, our economy has been closely tied with the U.S., and western states in particular. These connections are worth protecting. Through our participation in CSG West, I will make sure to reinforce that barriers between Alberta and the U.S. prevent us from seizing the incredible opportunities for collaboration in front of us.”

MLA Tany Yao, MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo, parliamentary secretary for Small Business and Northern Development

MLA Yao will also co-chair the Westrends Board to discuss tariffs and how they are impacting trade and manufacturing between the U.S. and Canada – including in cases where products cross the border several times before completion. Discussions will also focus on recent research into the economic impact of tariffs on American states, as well as exploring potential solutions.

CSG West is a regional, multilateral forum comprising the following member states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Alberta, British Columbia and the U.S. territories of Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands are associate members.

Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
