Alberta’s government has launched the new Labour Market Information portal, offering the latest data Albertans need to make informed career decisions and equip employers with key labour-related data, indicators and trends.

The user-friendly platform helps students, jobseekers, workers, employers and policymakers understand what jobs are in demand, how industries are changing and what skills are needed in today’s workforce. With access to this important information, Albertans can make informed decisions about career planning, education and training. At the same time, employers and policymakers can use the data to support workforce strategies and planning.

“Alberta’s economy is strong, diverse and full of opportunity, and we want to ensure Albertans have every tool available to seize it. The new Labour Market Information portal will provide jobseekers, students and employers with the data they need to make informed choices that can strengthen their careers, build their businesses and boost our province’s economy.”

Joseph Schow, Minister of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration

The Labour Market Information portal complements the Alberta Economic Dashboard, which highlights Alberta’s strong investment climate. While the dashboard focuses on investment-related information, the new portal fills a critical gap by offering comprehensive labour market information tailored to workers, employers and other key partners.

The new tool also aligns with the goals of the Alberta Jobs Strategy, which supports Alberta employers and workers by investing in workforce development research and strategies and expanding access to labour data, projects and training programs. By giving Albertans the tools they need to better understand the job market, the Labour Market Information portal is helping build a more informed, adaptable and future-ready workforce, while also helping to strengthen Alberta’s long-term economic growth.

“Reliable labour market information is essential for helping Albertans, employers, and policymakers make informed decisions in a rapidly changing economy. This new portal is a valuable step toward improving the accessibility and quality of labour market insights in our province, and it will support stronger workforce planning and better career choices for Albertans.”

Mike Holden, vice-president, policy and chief economist, Business Council of Alberta

In September 2025, the Alberta Jobs Strategy was introduced as a government-wide framework to develop policies, initiatives and programs that connect Albertans with meaningful employment. The strategy is built on four pillars including career readiness, career awareness, removing barriers and having an employer focus. By aligning policies with these four pillars, Alberta’s government is helping empower Albertans to pursue successful and rewarding careers.
