Associate Minister Hunter will travel to Iqaluit, Nunavut to attend the Canadian Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministers meetings from August 27 to 29 with federal, provincial and territorial counterparts from across Canada.
In addition to strengthening relationships with other provinces and territories, Associate Minister Hunter will promote Alberta’s common-sense approach to reducing the spread of invasive species and strengthening fish populations and habitats.
“We are one of Canada’s environmental leaders, and this meeting is a chance to have meaningful conversations about the common-sense conservation that matters to Albertans. From fisheries to the fight against aquatic invasive species, I look forward to working with our neighbours to better protect our waters and economies.”
With proven leadership in preventing and managing aquatic invasive species and a strong record of working with Indigenous communities and organizations to support stewardship and new economic opportunities, Alberta is well-positioned to share practical lessons and successes that can benefit communities from coast to coast to coast.
