“As Alberta’s Jewish community begins celebrating the eight days of Passover, I wish all families a meaningful holiday as they gather to retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt, as they have for generations.

“Passover marks the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery following 10 plagues bestowed upon the ancient Egyptians for refusing to allow the Israelites the freedom to worship. It is a reminder of God’s faithfulness in liberating the Israelites from oppression and adversity.

“This is a difficult time for the Jewish community in Alberta and across Canada. As the Jewish community today continues to face persecution, I hope the remembrance of the Exodus of Egypt and God’s care for His people will be a comfort and hope to them all.”
