“Today, Muslims around the world commemorate the end of the holy month of Ramadan by celebrating Eid al-Fitr. After a month of fasting, I wish the more than 200,000 Muslims in Alberta a joyous celebration with family and friends.

“As a celebration of Muslims’ devotion to their faith, Eid emphasizes love and benevolence for their fellow human beings and community. It is further marked through generosity and charitable acts that serve as an important part of Eid al-Fitr and a pillar of the Muslim faith.

“Eid al-Fitr is an opportunity to recognize the important contributions of Muslim Albertans to our province. To all those celebrating, may you enjoy a blessed and happy Eid al-Fitr.

“Eid Mubarak!”
