As the province’s population continues to grow, Alberta’s government remains focused on ensuring that more housing units are built in communities across the province. In 2023, Alberta’s government broke ground on or opened affordable and supportive housing in six communities, so more than 400 Alberta households have a safe and comfortable place to return to each day.
To continue ensuring low-income Albertans have access to safe and stable housing that meets their needs, a $10.2 million investment will build new, permanent supportive housing units in Lethbridge to ensure those experiencing homelessness have a safe place to call home.

Supportive housing ensures those most vulnerable in our community have access to safe, stable place to call home while they receive the supports and services they need. We will continue to work with our partners to develop innovative housing solutions that meet community needs.”
Construction will begin this spring and, when complete, the facility will provide 30 units of permanent supportive housing for adults experiencing homelessness and who live with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. This is the third supportive housing project funded by government since 2021 specifically for Albertans who require additional social supports alongside housing to get back on their feet.
This project is a joint initiative between the Government of Alberta, the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Housing Authority. In addition, the funding for this project is eligible for federal cost-matching under the National Housing Strategy bilateral agreement.
