“Two years ago, the world grieved as Russia launched an unprovoked attack against Ukraine – a full-scale humanitarian crisis that continues to this day. Today and every day, our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine.

“Many brave Ukrainians have died defending their country, democracy, freedom and their way of life. Millions of others are displaced, their lives forever changed.

“Despite their immeasurable loss, the steadfast strength and courage of the Ukrainian people is apparent around the world.

“Since the war began, Alberta has welcomed more than 51,000 Ukrainian evacuees into 206 communities across our province. They have become our friends and neighbours and are now part of the tapestry that weaves together the fabric of our society.

“Alberta’s government remains committed to supporting Ukraine, and we welcome Ukrainian evacuees seeking safety and refuge. While providing supports to Ukrainian evacuees who are arriving in Alberta, we continue to work closely with the federal government, business community, the Ukrainian Canadian community, and settlement organizations, to help evacuees settle and integrate into our communities.

“While we cannot erase the devastation and loss for the people of Ukraine, I hope the welcome, warmth and stability they have found in Alberta has sparked hope for a brighter future.

“Slava Ukraini!”
