“February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and honour the contributions, achievements and legacies of Black Albertans throughout our province’s history.

“Black Albertans are not only enriching our communities with their unique perspectives but also contributing to our province’s growth. From the early homesteaders to today's leaders, they are an important part of our social, economic and cultural fabric.

“We are dedicated to promoting inclusivity in our province while also acknowledging and addressing the historical marginalization experienced by Black Albertans.

“February is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate and recognize both our diversity and shared traits, understanding that the contributions of the Afro-heritage community are important to the Alberta narrative.”
