“Jan. 28 is Data Privacy Day, in recognition of the importance of protecting privacy and safeguarding personal information in a rapidly evolving digital world.

“As more and more data continues to be collected to inform everything we do, there are increased concerns around collection and use of personal information.

“This is why it has become critical that government safeguards personal information by demonstrating the ability to provide safety, privacy, security, reliability and data ethics.

“To enhance transparency and protect information, Alberta’s government has announced two new frameworks that will better protect people’s data.

“Albertans should have the strongest privacy protections in Canada. Every service we provide, every technology we build, every tool we deploy to modernize government systems and services will adhere to the principles in these frameworks.

“The privacy of Albertans is non-negotiable. Come hell or high water, I’m here to protect it.”
