Released in November 2021, the Stronger Foundations affordable housing strategy includes a commitment to expand the province’s affordable housing system. The government is continuing to pursue ways to increase the amount of housing available for Albertans in line with the strategy and in response to the current housing demand.

As part of this work to expand access to affordable housing, Alberta’s government has issued a request for information so qualified organizations can submit proposals that will responsibly use government land and provide more housing options for families and individuals.

“This call-out will help us look at all possible options to ensure we make the best possible use of this property. We look forward to seeing proposals to make the most of the site and provide more affordable places to live for Albertans.”

Jason Nixon, Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services

Proposals are encouraged from interested housing providers, developers, designers or any public or private organization to help the province explore possible options. Submissions are being accepted until Jan. 24.
