“Today is Yom HaShoah: Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is a day when we acknowledge the dark history of the Holocaust and the millions of innocent people who lost their lives because of the unthinkable hate and inhumanity of the Nazi regime.

“We remember and honour the six million Jewish victims as well as the survivors, those who lived through unspeakable horrors yet persevered and carried on.

“We remember history, so we never repeat it. Sadly, many decades later, we still see antisemitism and bigotry. On this day – and every day – we must raise our voices against hatred and educate the next generation about the dangers of discrimination.

“Today, we invite all Albertans to stand in solidarity with our friends in the Jewish community and commemorate Yom HaShoah.

“Never forget, never again.”
