Alberta’s economy has momentum, and Alberta’s government is committed to further growth and diversification so the province remains the economic engine of Canada. In 2022, nearly 50,000 people from around the world chose Alberta as the place to invest, work and raise their families.

AAIP is an economic immigration program that enables Alberta to nominate qualified workers in in-demand sectors for permanent residency. By improving the program, Alberta will be more competitive in attracting skilled newcomers from across the world.

Alberta’s government is making five improvements to the AAIP that will help both businesses and international skilled workers.

Changes to the Rural Entrepreneur and Rural Renewal streams will help Alberta’s rural communities remain vibrant and grow. A lowered investment threshold of $100,000 for the Rural Entrepreneur Stream will will open the door to additional qualified entrepreneurs who wish to establish or purchase an existing business in participating rural Alberta communities. Removing the requirement for a letter from a settlement agency under the Rural Renewal Stream will help rural communities attract, recruit and welcome newcomers based on local needs.

“Bringing more workers needed in the province will be key to continuing to grow Alberta’s economy and meeting our labour shortages. These changes to AAIP show our commitment to making Alberta one of the best places in the world to put down roots, contribute positively to your community and be prosperous.”

Alberta has the best front-line health care workers in the world and the province will work to have the right supports in place to ensure Albertans get the care they need when and where they need it. A new, dedicated pathway to attract medical professionals to Alberta means that up to 30 per cent of Alberta’s Express Entry Stream allocation in 2023 will be reserved for health-care professionals with an Alberta job offer from a health-care sector employer and who meet the requirements to work in one of the eligible health occupations. 

Two more changes will see a new phone line that directly connects AAIP staff members with clients and collaboration with the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot. Participating in this pilot will help refugees with the skills and qualifications needed in Canada to immigrate through existing economic programs.

Les modifications apportées au programme d'immigration Avantage Alberta (PIAA) permettront aux travailleurs et aux entrepreneurs en demande d'obtenir plus facilement le statut de résident permanent.

L'économie de l'Alberta fait preuve de l'élan et le gouvernement albertain s'est engagé à poursuivre la croissance et la diversification, afin que la province demeure le moteur économique du Canada. En 2022, près de 50 000 personnes du monde entier ont choisi l'Alberta pour investir, travailler et élever leur famille.

Le PIAA est un programme d'immigration économique qui permet à l'Alberta de sélectionner des travailleurs qualifiés dans des secteurs très demandés pour l'obtention de la résidence permanente. En améliorant le programme, l'Alberta sera plus compétitive pour attirer les nouveaux arrivants qualifiés du monde entier.

Le gouvernement de l'Alberta apporte cinq améliorations au PIAA destinées à la fois aux entreprises et aux travailleurs qualifiés internationaux.

Les changements apportés aux volets Entrepreneur rural et Rénovation rurale aideront les communautés agrestes de l'Alberta à rester dynamiques et à se développer. L'abaissement du seuil d'investissement à 100 000 dollars pour le volet Entrepreneurs rural ouvrira la porte à un grand nombre d'entrepreneurs qualifiés qui souhaitent créer ou acheter une entreprise existante dans les communautés rurales participantes de l'Alberta. La suppression de l'exigence d'une lettre d'un organisme d'établissement dans le cadre du volet Rénovation rurale aidera les communautés rurales à attirer, recruter et accueillir de nouveaux arrivants en fonction des besoins locaux.

Ces changements apportés au programme d'immigration témoignent de notre volonté de faire de l'Alberta l'un des meilleurs endroits au monde pour s'enraciner, apporter une contribution positive à sa communauté et devenir prospère ».

L'Alberta dispose des meilleurs travailleurs de santé de première ligne au monde et la province s'efforcera de mettre en place les mesures de soutien nécessaires pour que les Albertains reçoivent les soins dont ils ont besoin au moment et à l'endroit où ils en ont besoin. Une nouvelle voie spécifique pour attirer les professionnels de la santé en Alberta signifie que jusqu'à 30 % de l'allocation du volet d'entrée express de l'Alberta en 2023 sera réservée aux professionnels de la santé ayant une offre d'emploi en Alberta de la part d'un employeur du secteur et qui remplissent les conditions pour travailler dans l'une des professions de la santé éligibles. 

Deux autres changements sont prévus : une nouvelle ligne téléphonique qui relie directement les membres du personnel du PIAA aux clients et une collaboration avec le projet pilote fédéral Economic Mobility Pathways (mobilité économique). La participation à ce projet pilote aidera les réfugiés possédant les compétences et les qualifications requises au Canada à immigrer par le biais des programmes économiques existants.
