“August is Hindu Heritage Month in Alberta. It is a significant month for Hindus, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan, a celebration of love and loyalty between brothers and sisters, Janmashtami, the birthdate of Lord Krishna, and India’s Independence Day.
“Hindu communities in Alberta have diverse roots in all regions of the world. As part of our commitment to building an inclusive and welcoming Alberta for all, we encourage everyone to learn more about the history of Hindu communities and their important role in our province’s cultural, economic and social life.
“On behalf of the Government of Alberta, we wish all members of Hindu communities a wonderful month celebrating the faith, customs and traditions of their heritage.”
