“On Intergenerational Day, we rejoice in the deep and abiding connections between generations. It is incumbent upon us to do what we can to build greater awareness, understanding and harmony amongst Albertans young and old.
“Intergenerational Day reminds us we need to sustain those connections between generations.
“I am proud to announce Alberta’s government has declared June 1 as Intergenerational Day in perpetuity.
“By connecting one generation to another, we are sharing our experiences, we are learning from each other and we are making our communities, and our province, stronger.”
“We know connections between generations benefit everyone, and there are great examples of this in in both Family Resource Network programs and child care programs in seniors centres.
“From children and youth to parents, grandparents, mentors and caregivers, we can all benefit from listening and learning from one another and the joy these connections create.”
