“May 12, International Nurses Day, coincides with the birthday of nursing pioneer and founder of modern nursing Florence Nightingale. In Canada, we also recognize National Nurses Week from Monday to Sunday of the same week.

“Nurses play personal and wide-ranging roles throughout our lives –  from birth to death, from physical to mental health, in hospitals, clinics, communities and homes. Nurses are known and appreciated for their compassionate and knowledgeable care of patients and their families.

“Thank you to Alberta’s nurses for their immeasurable commitment, courage and contribution to our personal and community well-being during the pandemic. Your efforts to care for all Albertans, especially over the past two difficult years, have shown your steadfast commitment to care for others during their most vulnerable times, and we are grateful.”
